3D Huygens Principle Based Microwave Imaging Through MammoWave Device: Validation Through Phantoms

This work focuses on developing a 3D microwave imaging (MWI) algorithm based Huygens principle (HP). Specifically, novel, fast MWI device (MammoWave) has been presented and exploited for its capabilities of extending image reconstruction from 2D to 3D. For this purpose, dedicated phantoms containing structured inclusion have prepared with mixtures having different dielectric properties. Phantom measurements performed at multiple planes along the z-axis by simultaneously changing transmitter receiver antenna height via graphic user interface (GUI) integrated MammoWave. We recorded complex S21 multi-quote data z-axis. The multidimensional raw processed an enhanced HP reconstruction. paper demonstrates successful detection visualization varying dimensions planes/cross-sections dimensional error lower than 7.5%. Moreover, shows in skull-mimicking phantom cylindrically shaped inclusion, location detected agreement experimental setup. Additionally, localization spherical shown more scenario using 3-layer phantom, corresponding visualization.
